She moved to YouTube, where every passing inconvenience could become a broadcast. A disagreement became a betrayal. A quiet chat became an ungrateful audience. “I’m done with all this bullshit,” she announced beneath a thumbnail advertising tomorrow’s livestream. The donation bar remained open throughout her retirement. Meffany didn’t simply want attention. She wanted witnesses: people to confirm that she was beautiful, misunderstood, indispensable, and handling everything better than anybody else possibly could. Disagreement earned you a block. Silence earned you a speech. Her domestic masterpiece was a frozen Stouffer’s lasagna, presented to the camera with the pride of a woman who had personally invented Italian cuisine. She slid it into the oven, adjusted the phone, and began dancing. The lasagna needed forty-five minutes. Meffany needed an audience. She danced through the preheating cycle, a moderator dispute, and a lengthy explanation of how little she cared what anybody thought. Behind her, dinner quietly became the most stable thing in the room. Now she’s a wooden doll with a permanent spotlight and a talent for turning every exit into another entrance. Tap the wand and her famous glow returns. Tap it again and the light goes out. For a moment, she stands there in the dark. Then she asks whether anybody’s still watching.
